Two seven year old girls from NISV did a summit climb of Kedarkantha at 13000 ft height!

RHYNA H. PATEL and SANAYA M. GANDHI went to Sankri Village located at 6000 ft in Uttarkashi District, Uttarakhand along with their parents to do a trek till Kedarkantha base camp which was at height of 9500 ft height! The hike from base to the base camp was about 5 hours and around 4 kms going thru forests, rivers and hills. But looking at their enthusiasm and their parents willingness, the trek leader from TTH, Billo Negi pushed them to instead climb the summit. The summit is generally reached in three to four days after getting acclimatised to the low oxygen weather but the team had only planned for two days and hence had to summit within the time frame.

The climb from base camp to the summit was another 5 hours and around 6 hours but the ascent was almost 3500 ft high! The girls along with their parents, Mausam and Kushal Patel and Niayti and Maulin Gandhi started off well but had a few health issues along the way. Near the end of the summit, Sanaya even felt effect of AMS due to lack of oxygen but she was brave enough to complete the summit.
